BLM Flare Star Rotation

Lost Flare Star as a BLM has a unique rotation. Many new players assigned to Lost Flare Star, often ask how to maintain the rotation as a Flare Star. These are some tips compiled from Moderators and Veterans in using Lost Flare Star as the primary DPS.

Lost Flare Star Holster

Lost Font of Magic, 20 charges - this can last throughout the entire fight, from Fresh to finish. Having a maximum capacity of 99, bring along 1 Font of Magic in the holster.
For starters, bring along 3 Resistance Reraiser. As you improve in dodging skills or progress with little death, reduce the Reraiser.
For the remaining slots, fill it all with Resistance Ether Kit. This Ether Kit will help with low MP situation.

Understanding FoM as a Flare Star BLM

Maximum duration: 30s
FoM may pre-maturely fall off when MP reaches 0.
Before using FoM, BLM must use a Resistance Ether Kit or have Auto-ether active
If Auto-ether effect ended, maintain MP above 30% to keep FoM effect active for the entire duration.f

Understanding Resistance Ether Kit

Grants caster with Auto-ether to self.
When MP reaches 20%, Auto-ether will restore MP automatically
When triggered, there is a 50% chance the effect will end.

Rotation

During FoM Buff window

Begin with Resistance Ether Kit.
Opener with Int Potion > B3 > FoM > Flare Star > B4 > Thunder III.
F3 > Triple Cast > 1x F4 > Sharp Cast > 2x F4
F3 > Triple Cast > 1x F4 (renew Thunder if needed) > 2x F4.
F3 > Manafont > 3x F4 > Despair (FoM at 1-2s left).

Non-FoM Buff window

Use regular BLM rotation.
Renew Lost Flare Star in Umbral Ice.
Save 2x Polyglot for FoM window. Use one when necessary.
When FoM cools down, check if you still have Auto-ether. If not, re-apply and begin FoM rotations.

FAQ

Beware of using Despair too early.

Using Despair will drain all your MP, which will pre-maturely drop FoM. To ensure that you have maximum uptime, keep Despair only for the last few seconds of the buff's duration.

Only use Lost Flare Star in Umbral Ice

Using FoM with Flare Star will reduce your MP significantly. It may also quickly end Auto-ether in a single Flare Star cast. To prevent losing FoM buff, it is important to only use Lost Flare Star in Umbral Ice.

With Bozjan gears that grants +Haste, will it affect my rotation?

Yes, it will. Within your Astral Fire window, you may be able to squeeze in 4x Fire IVs into your rotation. Just bear in mind your MP if you're using it during FoM buff duration. So instead of using 3x Fire IV, you may be able to cast 4x Fire IV before renewing the stance.
